It’s definitely NOT your imagination! In the last decade or so we have been without a doubt bombarded with advertising at every turn – at the movies, billboards by the highway, gas pumps, etc. You can’t get away from it, even if you tried. Essentially, and this is just an opinion, the culprit for all this is… the camera! The camera has proven itself to be an invaluable marketing tool for advertisers. And as such, photography is at the core of the advertisement industry in promoting consumer goods and services on a global scale.
With the use of camera in most advertisements, photo manipulation is not far behind. In fact, it has come to the point where seeing photoshopped images on a daily basis are a regular occurrence that we do not really question – distorted images have become the norm.
